First Visit

A child’s first visit to the dentist can be daunting. Our office partners with parents to make this experience comfortable and positive. When you bring your child for his first visit, one of our dental assistants will briefly explain what will be in store during this appointment as to not have any surprises. Our dental assistant will then ask your child to come to the examination area or “open bay” (you are welcome to join your child during the first visit and until they are comfortable enough to get into the dental chair on their own). In the open bay, your child will be introduced to the brushing station and dental chairs. If necessary, flat screen televisions are mounted from the ceilings so your child may enjoy a movie during the exam.

At this appointment, your child will receive a dental cleaning, exam and Xrays, if necessary. Dr. Thomas will speak to you about the importance if oral hygiene, development and diet & nutrition. Together, we will come up with a plan for your child’s developing teeth that includes prevention and excellent oral health care.
